Clear all seven columns by playing exposed cards one rank up or down onto the waste. Solitaire Nest Golf is a free, no-signup game that runs right in your browser — on your phone or your laptop, online or off.
How to play Golf Solitaire
Thirty-five cards are dealt face-up into seven columns of five. The remaining seventeen cards form the stock, and you turn them one at a time to a single waste pile that acts as your foundation.
- Only the bottom (exposed) card of each column is in play. Move it to the waste when its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the card on top of the waste.
- Suits and colors do not matter — only the rank. A 7 plays on a 6 or an 8; a 6 plays on a 5 or a 7.
- There is no wrap-around. Ace is low and King is high, so nothing plays on a King except a Queen, and nothing plays on an Ace except a 2.
- When you are stuck, tap the stock to flip a new card to the waste and open fresh possibilities.
- Win by clearing every card from the seven columns. You lose when the stock is empty and no legal move remains.
Tap to play
Tap the bottom card of any column — or anywhere in that column — and it moves to the waste if the play is legal, with a gentle nudge if it is not. Tap the stock to deal. The same taps work with a mouse or a finger, so play whichever way feels natural. Long runs up and down the ranks earn a streak bonus, so chain moves before you draw.
Tips to clear more columns
- Plan a run before you commit — a single card can open a chain of five or six plays in a row.
- Keep both directions in mind; the waste can climb and fall, so a stuck card may free up after one more play.
- Save your draws. Every card you clear from the tableau before flipping the stock stretches your options later.
- Use Undo freely to explore, Hint when you are truly stuck, and try the Daily deal for a shared challenge.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Golf Solitaire?
Move any exposed tableau card onto the waste pile when it sits one rank above or below the current waste card, suit does not matter. Keep building that single sequence up and down to clear the columns. When no card fits, draw the next card from the stock and continue.
Why is it called Golf Solitaire and how does scoring work?
The name comes from golf, where a lower score is better. You want as few cards left in the tableau as possible when the stock runs out, and each leftover card counts against you. Some variants flip this and score by how many cards you managed to clear.
Is Golf Solitaire winnable every time?
No. Whether a deal can be fully cleared depends on the shuffle and on whether the game lets the sequence wrap between Ace and King. With strict rules many deals leave a few cards stranded, so clearing every column is not guaranteed on every hand.
What is the best strategy to win more Golf Solitaire games?
Look ahead before you draw. Scan the tableau for the longest run you can play without touching the stock, then work that chain first. Clearing full columns early opens more choices later, so plan the order of your moves instead of grabbing the first legal card.
Is Golf Solitaire free with no signup?
Yes. It is completely free, with no download, no account, and no signup. It runs right in your browser on desktop or mobile, and once the page has loaded it keeps working offline so you can play a hand anywhere.
